A LEDBURY-based goalkeeping academy has enjoyed further success with a student representing Northern Ireland.

Manchester United youngster Oliver Webber, 14, has been training with Allan Hawkins’ group and won his first youth international cap in Estonia.

Webber’s family come from Ledbury and Hawkins, also a goalkeeping coach at West Bromwich Albion, said: “We are extremely proud of Ollie’s achievement.

“If playing for Manchester United wasn’t enough, to be regarded as the top goalkeeper for his age group to represent his country is a magnificent honour.

“Of course, we are always looking out for other goalkeepers to follow in his footsteps.”

Other players to emerge from the academy include Josh Griffiths and Harrison Coles at West Brom and Harry Burgoyne at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Hawkins’ academy has produced 39 keepers for professional clubs over six years.

They will put on a goalkeeping masterclass in Hereford next Tuesday for six to 17 year olds.
