SIXTEEN-year-old Brad Hughes scored his first goal for Colwall Village in a narrow 1-0 win over promotion hopefuls Worcester City Wanderers.

The McDonald’s Worcester and District League Sunday Division Three success moved Colwall up to sixth in the table.

In the Southam Trophy, Malvern Victoria booked a quarter-final tie with Hylton Road Rovers after winning 4-2 at the University of Worcester.

Goals from Bobby Gray (2) and Ian Farney helped Inter Express to a 5-1 victory over Alumni in the same competition.

Sam Parsons scored twice as the Halfway House went through 5-0 against Malvern side Falcons, while Powick Reserves pulled off a shock 3-2 win at Hornets.

Colwall St James went out of the Katherine Rayer Cup 2-1 at lower-ranked Goodrest Juniors.

But Division Five basement boys Sport Dysons enjoyed a 4-2 penalty shoot-out win at Spa Gas in the Bernard Finnegan Cup after drawing 1-1.

Leigh and Bransford Badgers crashed 7-0 at home to leaders Worcester Rileys in Sunday Division Five.

They were 4-0 down at halftime and the victims of clinical finishing although two of the goals were controversial penalties for handball.

At the other end, the Rileys keeper saved a Chris King spot-kick.

In Division One, mid-table Powick lost 4-1 at Hallow in a clash of the villages.

However, Powick still lead the Saturday Division after a narrow 2-1 victory over Malvern Town Reserves.

Malvern Vale picked up their second point of the season from a 3-3 home draw with fellow strugglers Worcester Anchors. Josh Speight and Steve Dallow were among the scorers.

Malvern Hills’ poor run continued with a 5-3 loss at the University of Worcester.
