Caution over title talk

EASTNOR skipper Clive Chadhani hit a match-winning knock but is not getting carried away over their title chances.

They defeated Halesowen by seven wickets in a rain-hit Birmingham League Division Two clash.

Shahid Ahmed (4-12) and Jabran Khalid (3-4) rolled through hosts Halesowen in their 64 all out before Chadhani made an unbeaten 29 to steer Eastnor into third in the table.

He said: “I decided to take responsibility, forget what was going on around me and not to play any reckless shots.

“Our guys bowled their usual good line and length but the turning point was when we ran their captain out.”

Eastnor host rock-bottom Evesham tomorrow (noon) but Chadhani admitted: “We have been complacent at times and have to put that right.

“It would be premature to think we could win this league.”

He added: “There is a lot of work to be done — there are just 58 points between first place and 11th.”
