COLWALL kicked off their season with a friendly victory over neighbours Eastnor in blustery, cold conditions.
The hosts, who fielded a mixed side, chose to bowl first and, despite taking a second-over wicket, struggled to get much out of a soft wicket.
Although the run-rate was not particularly high, Eastnor remained in a strong position with opener Faisal Khalid (81) in fine form.
However, debutant’s Dan Martin’s spin soon brought a change in fortune and he finished with 4-44.
The Birmingham League outfit were eventually dismissed in the 45th over for 185 before their bowling followed a similar pattern.
After an early wicket. Colwall’s innings took shape when Rory Jones joined Martin and the pair passed 100 with only three wickets down.
Jones’ 76 and Freddy Coleman’s powerful 34 not out took Worcestershire League top-flight side Colwall to victory after 35 overs.
