Hooper is key player

BARNARDS GREEN II v DROITWICH II

BARNARDS Green ended a three-match losing run with an eight-wicket victory at Crusader Worcestershire Division One champions elect Droitwich.

Stand-in captain Ian Scullion won the toss and asked the home side to bat.

Lewis Hooper bowled his best spell of the season by taking 5-27 as Droitwich were all out for 88.

A youthful opening pair of Jon Lewis and James Scullion did not last long in reply but Paul Drinkwater and Paul Yorke made light work of obtaining the runs, Drinkwater finishing unbeaten on 19 and Yorke on 64 not out.

Yorke was severe on all the bowlers, hitting his half-century in 25 balls, smashing nine fours and three sixes in the process.

Barnards Green gained 20 points to finish in a mid-table position.

The Seconds ended their Sunday League campaign with a six-run defeat at home to Ombersley.
