COLWALL missed a chance to move up Worcestershire Cricket League Division One as they lost by 33 runs at home to Chaddesley Corbett.

Having won the toss and inserted the visitors in a game reduced to 48 overs per side by a shower, the in-form Mike Gooch took three wickets in his first two overs to leave Chaddesley floundering on 4-3.

Chaddesley gradually recovered thanks to a determined 100 from Bilal Hassan who turned the tide before being run out at the end having hit five sixes and seven fours.

Jack Knight-Adams (1-22) and Nick Brown (2-22 from 10 overs) reduced the visitors to 92-6 but from 105-7 Hassan took charge in Chaddesley's 183-9 with Gooch taking 3-23 from eight overs.

Without skipper Ben Cooke and several other regulars, Ben Febery (7) fell lbw before Brown and Ben Wheeler were both caught with the total on 35-3.

Andrew Waters (19) and Fergus Cameron shared a dour fourth-wicket stand of 40 before the former miscued a catch and when Ash Jones was run out half the side were out for 82.

Cameron (34) and Gooch (23) tried to turn the tide but Hassan returned to bowl both in the same over as Colwall succumbed for 149 with two overs left.

Despite a maiden century by newcomer Dan Brierley, Colwall seconds lost by one run in a high-scoring encounter at Harborne in Division One.

Harborne piled up a daunting 295-9 thanks to Jim Clifford (65) and Will Clarke (48) while Steve Coffey (3-61) was the pick of the bowlers.

John Card (49) gave Colwall a sound start and Brierley cut loose to hit 119 as the target was significantly reduced.

But although skipper Will Bishop maintained the momentum with 54 not out Harborne restricted the visitors to 294-9 in a thrilling final over.

Ten-man Colwall thirds crashed by 10 wickets at home to Strollers in Marches League Division Two.

Seamer George Woodcole picked up 6-17 in 10 overs with Frank Allen (2-5) claiming the last two wickets as the hosts crumbled to 47 all out in the 22nd over.

Strollers knocked off the runs inside eight overs with Dan Powell stroking 34no.

Colwall fourths beat hosts Luctonians thirds by 81 runs.

Phil Steers (36) and Simon Oliver (67) put on a century opening stand and then a maiden half-century from Jacob Charlton (52no) took the visitors to 235-5 with Myron Lawrence (25) and Chris Horne (20no) supporting.

Ian Lawrence (45), Lee Elsmore (33no) and Paul Barker (26) put up the only resistance as Luctonians were dismissed for 154 in reply.
