CRICKET clubs in the area will be able to hire a top quality scarifier to help improve their playing surfaces.
The Worcs Association of Groundsmen (Cricket) have taken delivery of a new Graden scarifier. The high quality machine was awarded to the association through the Foundation for Sports & Arts Grant Aid scheme administered through the England & Wales Cricket Board facilities and funding department.
Chairman of the association Godfrey Tromans said: "Cricket pitches are quite often low on the list of priority when it comes to investment at recreational club level however, a good pitch is a fundamental part of any successful club.
"One of our main aims as an association is to help clubs to improve their cricket pitches, which in turn will benefit the recreational game across the county.
"The Graden scarifier along with the groundsman aerator and small towing trailer which the association also owns, will provide a fantastic resource for affiliated clubs to hire to assist the renovation and maintenance of their fine turf facilities throughout the year."
Details of how to hire the machinery can be obtained by contacting the WCB on (01905) 429147 or e-mail; worcscricketboard@talk21.com
