A DEFEAT for Cutnall Green opened the way for Barnards Green A in the Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League Worcester Division One title race.

Avoncroft (116-4) beat Cutnall Green (101-5) by 15 runs despite taking five overs to make 40.

Adam Rodway (18) was bowled by Paul Hutchins who then had Tom Murray (10) caught and bowled in the sixth over to leave Avoncroft on 47-2.

Josh Cound (18) and Dan Elliott (31 not out) added nearly 70 in the second half of the innings.

In reply, Matt Harris failed to negotiate a straight one in the first over and Scott Shuck was run out in the third.

Getting to 42 after six overs, Ted Bayliss (38no) and Hutchins (27) were always just behind the required rate.

As the lower order fell apart, Bayliss as last man standing failed to make up the lost ground.

Barnards Green B (74-3) lost to Barnards Green A (75-0) who had more power and experience.

Callum Morris (22) and Ben Bromwich (20no) will gain confidence from their efforts for the B side.

But the Malvern club's A team knocked off the runs with Andy Ford (26no) and Jack Mackintosh (25no) the main architects of a six-wicket win.

In Division Two, Old Vigornians (120 all out) beat WCB Seniors (113-3) by seven runs.

Key batsman Oz Fiaz's bails were scattered from the first ball of the innings.

But Steve Ferguson (26), Chris Drew (41), Elliott Turner (21) and Phil Mackie (13) all made useful contributions.

Robin Lloyd, who had trapped Fiaz, also caught and bowled Turner to finish with 2-21.

The seniors started well and kept up with the run-rate.

Peter Gurr (27no) and Lloyd (25no) retired but some of the good work was undone by Martin Johnson being run out without facing.

Martin Woodward (24) and Bob Pittaway (19) got the innings back on track until both were stumped.

OVs avoided dismissing tail-ender Paul Thompson and won the game from a position where the seniors had required only 17 runs from two overs with five wickets in hand.

Unbeaten Martley (151-2) beat Worcester Nomads C (69 all out) by 82 runs to strike a major blow against their title rivals.

Ian Flower (30no), Pat Bibby (31no), James Ganderton (27no) and Simon van Tongeren (26no) helped Martley amass a strong total with the first wicket only falling on 124.

Under-pressure Nomads were reduced to 11-3 in two overs with Malcolm Jones suffering a golden duck.

Sam Jones (22) alone made double figures and Bibby contributed with a caught and bowled.
