BARNARDS Green A took a large step towards the Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League Worcester Division One title.

Nomads (95-5) lost to Green (96-2) with 14 balls remaining.

The Bransford side's batting was hit by fine fielding and initially tight bowling.

After four overs only 18 runs were scored with many shots straight to fielders.

Shane Thompson took a reflex caught and bowled but contributed 22 wides in two overs while also claiming two direct hit run-outs.

Nomads' Guy Davies looked positive and confident between the wickets.

In reply, Ryan Tongue and Oli Swift powered their way to 60-0 in six overs and retired to allow the lower order some not entirely convincing practice.

Worcester Nomads A (132-3) beat Barnards Green B (77-3) by 55 runs.

Josh Hawes (14) departed at 42 and Jamie Oliver (28 not out) retired before Ollie Ranscombe (26no) helped Nomads to 121.

The young Green bowlers struggled with line but managed three run outs.

The top order were dismissed within three overs in reply as Ben Sutton (26no) and Andy Wheeler (20no) could not prevent a convincing defeat.

In Division Two, Nomads C (127-5) beat Malvern A (93-5) by 34 runs.

Anthony Arnold (3-34) took consecutive wickets in the second over but Nomads' Roger Dixon (24) helped them recover to 31-2.

Scoring progressed more normally with the help of Jack Elston (25) and Malcolm Jones (31no).

Malvern’s innings stalled at the second ball with a needless run out followed by two more in Elston’s second over for 30-4 after four overs.

Tom Fairclough (31) and Arnold (35no) gave Malvern a glimmer of hope.

When Fairclough gave a simple catch to Jones off Nigel Dexter at 60 in the eighth over, the writing was on the wall.

WCB Seniors (128-5) beat Malvern B (89 all out) by 39 runs for their second win of the season.

The total contained 51 wides which helped as the batting was out of sorts with only Peter Gurr (24) and Martin Woodward (29no) impressing.

Losing wickets regularly without the comfort of wides, Malvern were behind the rate from the start.

James Sarkar (44) gave the score respectability before being caught off a ricochet in the last over.

Martin Johnson ended with 2-14.
