Burroughs tears through Nomads

WORCESTER NOMADS v BROCKHAMPTON

INSERTED on a rain-affected pitch, Worcester Nomads had little answer to the accuracy and guile of Brockhampton's Chris Burroughs, who bowled unchanged from one end taking 7-64.

Burroughs quickly dealt with opener Darren Lakin and Mahmood Malik saw off Olly Flower with no runs scored and Nomads never really recovered.

There was brief resistance from Liam O'Driscoll (31), Dean Sanders (30) and Guy Davies (22), but Burroughs consistently delivering huge off-cutters proved virtually unplayable.

Brockhampton started with some urgency to finish before the threatening rain. Dominic Harris removed Steve Jennings and Burroughs, both lbw. Henry Langford played some sparkling shots in his 32 before being bowled by Geoff Taylor. Batting honours, however, go to Ashley Nahorniak who saw his side home with an unbeaten 61 just before the rain swept in.

WORCESTER NOMADS v BREDON

WINNING the toss Nomads elected to bat first in this 40-over Sunday friendly game.

Openers Geoff Taylor (96) and James Smith (46) put on 161 for the first wicket and with Sam Roberts (24) well supported by Jon Ingles (10no) and then Bob Harper with a quick nine saw the Nomads through to 214-4 at the close.

In reply, Bredon set about the task with L Millar (47) and R Singh (18) putting on 48 after the first eight overs. Sam Roberts seven overs 3-35 and Jon Ingles 8 overs 1-25 removed four out of the top five batsmen and kept the run rate down.

M Hickey (33) and K Matty (32) both looked dangerous and with Jack Longley eight overs 2-32 getting Hickey it looked good for the Nomads. Geoff Taylor then bowled tightly against the hard-hitting Matty before he was run out by Alan Mason and Tom Mills the young keeper.

Taylor then set about mopping up the tail and ending up with 2-5 off 3.2 overs. Bredon ended on 183 all out meaning Nomads won by 31 runs in the 37th over.
