BARNARDS Green suffered a comprehensive defeat to Birmingham League Division One leaders Moseley despite the best efforts of Blair Kingsland.

The bowler took five wickets for 80 runs from 15 overs at North End Lane, but Mark Adair’s 105 off just 92 balls saw Moseley post 277-9.

Although Dannie Rees scored a half century in reply, Green’s innings faltered as they were bowled out for 163, finishing 114 runs short.

After winning the toss and choosing bat, the visitors raced to 43 before Jack Cullity broke their opening partnership as Aadam Din (19) skied one to Ollie Swift.

Warwickshire’s Adair joined forced with Abdullah Awan (64) and they put on 105 before the latter was trapped lbw by George Rhodes.

Kingsland was taking the brunt of Adair’s hard-hitting as he conceded 48 off his first four overs.

But his next six overs produced figures of 4-11 as he took out Moseley’s middle order with Liam Devlin and Asim Shoaib going first. Adair hit another six to bring up his century and the 200 for Moseley in the 39th over.

He cracked one more boundary in the next over but was then smartly caught by keeper Ash Brewer to give Rhodes his second wicket.

Kingsland struck again with two more lbws, removing Ali Awan (15) and John Williams (seven).

Jugdip Mandra (25) became Kingsland’s fifth scalp when he holed out to Swift before Jack Mackintosh clean bowled Usman Awan (5).

Green lost Jon Dovey (3) and Ollie Swift (7) who were dismissed by Tahir.

After Tahir trapped Will Dovey (31) lbw, Rhodes and Rees began to rebuild the Green innings.

Rhodes took the score past 50 before he was controversially adjudged lbw on 22.

Rees started to establish a strong partnership with Kevin Golder, but Usman Awan changed the game.

Rees was caught at short fine leg by Nandra (52) and Brewer was bowled first ball.

Green then crumbled as Golder and Williams were both undone by Awan before Kingsland and Mackintosh fell for ducks.

Green visit Bridgnorth on Saturday (noon) before hosting Barnt Green in the quarter-finals of the Birmingham League’s T20 Challenge Cup on Sunday (1pm).
