WORCESTER Nomads crashed to 51-run home defeat against fellow newcomers Sentinel in Birmingham League Division Three.

The reliable Ben Schiffmann was in good form with the ball for Nomads, taking 4-31.

Newly-promoted Sentinel dug in with the bat and Andrew Harrison top scored with 45 in the visitors’ competitive total of 193.

Trevor Keen took 2-25 from 9.2 overs, while Rich Henry claimed 2-51 and Pat O’Driscoll 2-56.

Nomads struggled to build a solid platform in reply and lost wickets regularly as Sentinel gained the upper-hand.

Dominic Bradburne (4-37) and George Cheshire (4-25) shared eight of the Nomads wickets to fall.

Jamie Oliver hit a defiant 31, while Henry made 25 and Guy Davies 24 but Nomads were eventually dismissed for 142 in 46.1 overs.

Dave White (11) was the only other home batsman to reach double figures for Nomads, who are fourth from bottom after three matches.

Former Gloucestershire and Leicestershire wicket-keeper Steve Adshead hit 106 in Astwood Bank’s 218-7/. It helped his side to a 34-run win over Handsworth.
