BARNARDS Green won Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League Worcester Division One.

Worcester Nomads A (129-4) beat their B team (88-5) by 41 runs to hand the title to Green.

The B side led the competition for much of the season and reduced the A players to 51-4 from seven overs as they aimed to beat them for the first time.

But Guy Davies (52 not out) and Cameron Blakey (28no) added an unbeaten 78 in five overs to post a challenging score.

The B team lost Derek Austin first ball to Sean Butler who alongside Harvey Groves caused problems with his pace and determination.

They quickly fell behind the required rate and run outs left the B side on 39-4 after five overs.

Final pair Josh Hawes (38no) and Andy Leach could not score quickly enough in the fixture which saw umpire Chris Marsh stand in his final league game.

The B team retain second place and join Green in the county finals on Sunday, April 23, at the Royal Grammar School Worcester sports hall from 6.30pm.

In Division Two winless Malvern (87-5) lost to Old Vigornians (89-5) with one ball left.

Oz Fiaz (48no) looked a class apart for OVs, producing the final runs as last man standing.

Only Dominic Lee (15) reached double figures otherwise.

Malvern's Jeremy Pilgrim (20), James Sarkar (15), Tom Fairclough (10) and Ollie Harker (26no) made useful contributions but failed to press home the advantage.

There was varied bowling from Malvern with Pilgrim’s pace, Sarkar’s left arm for 1-9 and Lewis Hill’s flighted deliveries for 1-10.

Hallow (94 all out) lost to West Malvern (95-2) with eight balls remaining.

Openers Dave Pugh and Jez Hodson (13) began like men on a mission for Hallow before the latter was run out.

Pugh got an edge off Will Jones before Connor Murphy missed a straight one and Stu Hayes (16) was run out on 70.

Liam Wylde (14) picked up runs before being stumped off Pete O’Connell (2-26) with a ball to go.

West openers O’Connell (25no) and Will Lloyd (29no) completed their task as 30 wides helped the cause.

Hodson (2-12) took two wickets in his first over to offer faint hope.

West went top joining Martley and Nomads C on 10 points.  Martley are favourites as Nomads and West face each other in their final match.
