BARNARDS Green thrashed hosts Bromsgrove by 183 runs in the Birmingham League Division One Worcestershire derby.

Having won the toss and elected to field, Bromsgrove conceded 247-8 to the Malvern side and then crashed to 64 all out in reply.

Skipper Phil Harris (98), Worcestershire’s George Rhodes (55) and Jamie Tapper (41) led the way for Green with Ash Newfield picking up 4-50.

The Bromsgove innings then became a procession back to the pavilion as Rhodes took 5- 10 against one of his former clubs.

At Old Hill, visitors Brockhampton were five-wicket winners after they bowled out the home team for 65 in a match reduced to 28 overs per side.

In difficult conditions, Brockhampton’s Nick Powell (3-5) and Josh Tongue (3-11) built on the early good work of Jamie McIlroy (2-17).

Then Henry Langford blazed 37 from 21 balls to see Brockhampton to 52 before they lost their first wicket.

They then lost five wickets for 10 runs to Nigel Davenport (3-24) and Ashfak Hussein (2-21) but there were no more upsets as Old Hill fell further adrift at the bottom of the table.
