WORCESTER Nomads ‘C’ eased past Rushwick by 78 runs in Worcestershire Indoor League Worcester Division Two.

The Bransford side rattled up a winning total of 156-5 without much opposition and Rushwick are now odds-on to collect the wooden spoon with one game remaining.

Jamie Oliver (34), Nick Jones (43) and Josh Hawes (28) all made valuable contributions to Nomads’ cause, retiring and returning with varying success.

Rushwick were short on both bowlers and batsmen as Chris Davies (25) offered hope early on in their reply of 78-5, but his team-mates missed straight balls on a regular basis.

Davies succumbed too when returning after retirement.

Four batsmen were bowled as Hawes finished with the best figures of 2-15 for Nomads, leaving Matt Champion (14 not out) to play out the last few overs.

In the other game in the division, Martley (102-3) lost to Bromsgrove (103-0) with two overs remaining.

The title is a keen race between Droitwich and Old Vigornians, with the sides meeting on April 20.

In Division One, Cutnall Green appear to have booked a place in the finals again, accompanying Worcester Nomads ‘A’.

Royal Grammar School Worcester (111-1) lost to Cutnall Green (113-3) with five balls left.

Avoncroft (126 all out) beat Hallow (86 all out) with eight balls remaining.

Sunday’s Division One matches are between newcomers Eastnor and Worcester Nomads ‘B’ and Old Elizabethans and Worcester Nomads ‘A’.

In Division Two on Monday, Malvern face Old Vigornians and West Malvern play Droitwich.
