WORCESTER Nomads ‘A’ and ‘B’ are both undefeated in Worcestershire Indoor League Worcester Division One.

But Malvern and Nomads ‘C’ crashed to defeat in Division Two.

Nomads ‘A’ (85 all out) beat the Royal Grammar School (79-4) by six runs.

But the win looked unlikely when fine fielding and bowling restricted the Bransford side.

Their batsmen failed to impose themselves with wides top-scoring on 21. Lewis Austin, Ryan Tongue and Tom Mills reached double figures as Suley Shah took 2-19.

In reply, lively pace from Rich Henry and short balls from Matt Ormerod brought no wickets.

But Dominic Badger and Tongue conceded just three runs in total from their first overs with the former having Elliott Bartlett (11) stumped.

RGS failed to get ahead of the run-rate and needed 26 runs from the last two overs only to lose three wickets to run-outs.

Nomads ‘B’ (139-1) beat newcomers Hallow (66 all out) by 73 runs with three overs remaining.

Openers Tim Dobinson-Law and Derek Austin crashed 63 runs in five overs before Oli Ranscombe also retired and James Ridge added 18 not out.

Jamie Laugher was bowled but wides were the top-scorer with 32.

Nomads conceded just eight in reply and Derek Austin claimed 2-7 as only Dave Pugh (44) hit back.

In Division Two, in-form Bromsgrove (120-2) beat much-changed Malvern (51 all out).

Malvern dismissed danger-man Lewis Cordes in the first over but had little other joy.

Their new-look batting line-up failed to impress too and skipper Steve Lake (13) was largely an onlooker as four wickets fell for 32 runs with Tom Underhill taking 3-11.

Nomads ‘C’ (96 all out) lost to new leaders Droitwich (97-2) with seven balls remaining.

Having lost five wickets for 65 runs by the sixth over, Nomads’ Jamie Oliver (42) was last man standing for the second match running.

Oliver was eventually run-out after Max Young earlier picked up 2-27 and Adrian Field 1-20.

In reply, Droitwich’s openers made a solid start and they moved on to victory with the help of regular overthrows.
