WORCESTER Nomads sealed a double victory in Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League Division One through their 'A' and 'B' teams.

Meanwhile, Malvern continue to enjoy the winning feeling in Division Two of the competition at the Royal Grammar School, Worcester, with Andy Cullen starring.

Nomads 'A' (123-5) beat RGS (80 all out) by 43 runs as the students could not repeat their victory over the 'B' side.

The Bransford side got off to a circumspect start against Mark Jones' accurate first over but, after losing Lewis Austin (4) in the second to a smart run-out, Richard Henry (10) and Darren Lakin (24) got the innings moving.

But Lakin offered Ben Allen a simple catch off Elliot Bartlett and, from 55-2 after five overs, Nomads struggled to 68-3, including the dismissal of Henry with a smart catch by Joe Watts off Robbie Watts.

Sam Roberts, with an unbeaten 46, assisted by Matt Ormerod (19) then took on the bowling to up the pace and present a reasonable challenge to the school.

Judging by their first match, 123 looked within the students' reach but the innings began slowly and perhaps the pressure led to the fatal hesitation and run-out of Dan Goodyear (12) in the fourth over on 26.

Joe Watts faced a couple of balls in three overs then gave a smart one-handed return catch to Lakin and Bartlett retired in the eighth over when 58 were still needed.

The ninth yielded only three runs and, with desperation and inevitability, four wickets fell in eight balls, leaving Nomads clear by 43 runs.

Nomads 'B' (127 all out) beat Droitwich 'A' (113-4) by 14 runs with last season's champions suffering their second successive defeat.

After Max Young (20) was run-out in the third over, Droitwich lost momentum until the returning Martyn Davies (42 not out) and Peter Gurr (32no) made a brave but doomed effort as the last pair.

Droitwich required 50 from the last three overs but they both placed the ball and ran unhesitatingly to produce a somewhat flattering final scoreline.

Openers Paul Gardner (31) and Joe Laugher (45) provided Nomads with a sound platform to which they returned to finish the innings after Nick Jones produced a free-scoring 23.

Nomads 'A' join Old Elizabethans with two wins from two games at the top of the league.

In Division Two, Bromsgrove (92 all out) lost to Malvern (93-2) with five balls remaining.

Malvern got off to a brilliant start with Steve Lake using the new ball to bowl Lewis Cordes cheaply and Matt Russell then fell to Cullen.

With the exception of Matt Banham (14) and Tom Russell (21), Bromsgrove failed to make much headway.

Malvern's old habits resurfaced and, while scoring 51 off the bat, Bromsgrove's total contained 42 extras with 32 wides.

But this Malvern side is stronger after winning the wooden spoon for three successive years.

Although Ash Jones has yet to curb his desire to hit every ball into next week, Cullen (27no) played particularly well, assisted by Lewis Mills (17no) and Lake (16no).

Droitwich 'B' (106-3) beat Nomads 'C' (63 all out) by 43 runs with two overs remaining as veteran Martin Woodward (2-15) batted and bowled well along with taking a one-handed diving catch.

Nomads looked a little short though Nic Lloyd (13) batted and bowled with some success.

Droitwich batted with caution after their defeat by Malvern and, with contributions from Paul Spregg (25no), Rhys John (27no) and Ash Walton (14no), totalled a below-average 106 with wickets to spare.

The money was on Nomads but Droitwich's bowlers proved a more potent force as Phil Thomas and Walton seemed to get the still fairly new ball to swing again.

A couple of times, batsmen wandered down the wicket to be stumped by Kieran Wilkins and Nomads quickly fell behind the rate.

At the half way stage, they were 38-3 with only Tom Webb (20) making an impression. Lloyd was final man out, the second bowled by Woodward, leaving Nomads well beaten.
