THE Worcestershire’s annual competition in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution took place in blustery conditions with occasional showers.

Almost 100 competitors, who were allowed only two clubs and a putter, showed good scores do not require a full set of 14.

Prize-winners, Division One: 1 Andrew Perkins 12 handicap, 36 stableford points, 2 Colin Jones 11-33; Division Two: 1 Mike Bothma 13- 36, 2 David Flanagan 13-35; Division Three: 1 Mike Salmon 19- 38, 2 Gordon Jones 22-36. The competition raised £300 for the RNLI.

In the Malvern Wells club’s winter betterball matchplay, Charles Davenport (15) and Ralph Kelsall (9) beat Jason Allies (5) and Andy Dunster (5). They will now play Phil Shurmer (2) and Nick Smith (5), who defeated Paul Jones (6) and Jim Wilde (14).
