Holders Powick fall to Baylis Cup semi exit

THERE were major shocks in the Worcester and District League’s Baylis Cup semi-finals where holders Powick and last season’s runners-up VBL Sports both crashed out.

In a feisty encounter at the University of Worcester, where one player was sent off and nine others cautioned, the hosts beat Powick 2-0 with goals from Ryan Mellor and Martin Iddon.

In the final, they will meet Worcester Raiders who triumphed 1-0 at VBL with a goal from Josh Homans.

Around 40 per cent of the Sunday League programme survived the weather.
