POWICK are through to the Worcestershire FA Saturday Minor Cup final after an epic 6-5 penalty shoot-out victory over rivals VBL Sports.
The game finished 2-2 after 120 minutes and both sides netted their first five spot-kicks before Andy Martin won it for the cup holders.
After a goalless first-half, VBL took the lead against the run of play when Devon Smith headed home from close range.
The lead was short-lived as Lee Barmby provided a telling pass for Ricky Buckland to dink the ball into the net.
Martin’s cross was met bravely by Stu Harvey, who out-jumped the keeper to make it 2-1, but James Cale forced the game into extra-time.
A controversial late penalty for handball against Powick’s Darren Baker was blasted wide by VBL defender Dean Spiers.
After the shoot-out victory, Powick will face West Hagley in the final at Kidderminster Harriers’ Aggborough ground.
