MALVERN Town manager Chris Palmer said he is building a settled squad as his side chase a first away win of the season in Aspire Midland Alliance at Kirby Muxloe tomorrow (ko 3pm).

The Langland Stadium side suffered their latest league defeat on their travels, losing 2-0 at in-form Coventry Spinx on Tuesday night.

This followed a rampant display at home on Saturday which saw them thrash bottom-placed Cradley Town 5-1.

Palmer has made a number of changes to his squad over the last week with striker Mark Brookes leaving due to family commitments and midfielder Lee Hooper moving to Malvern Rangers.

In have come centre-half Craig Brown, striker Mike Rhodes from Bishops Cleeve and defender Ben Patterson on loan from Stourport Swifts.

Town crashed to a 3-1 defeat to tomorrow’s opponents in the league so they already know the tough task that lies ahead.

But Palmer does face an increasing injury list with defender Paul Ireland set to return after suffering a bruised foot against Coventry.

Right-back Kyle Knott (ankle ligament damage) and Craig Williams (achilles) are both out of tomorrow’s clash.

Striker Alex Taffe has had his broken hand re-plastered which will keep him on the sidelines until Christmas.

Palmer said: “If we perform well tomorrow we could come away with that illusive first away win of the season.

“Kirby Muxloe were a good team when we played them.

“I had the same 14 players to pick from on Tuesday night that I had for Saturday which was pleasing. I’m getting the people in now that I can build a good squad around.”
