Bennett and Eckersley are top guns in county tennis shootout


IT was a shoot out for the Senior County Closed Tennis Championships held at Manor Park Tennis Club, Great Malvern over the last two weekends.

Senior players across Herefordshire & Worcester-shire competed for big prize money, with the target of becoming senior county champion.

The new one-set shoot out format brought a sense of spectacle and excitement for fans and a tough challenge for players attempting to be crowned the county's top gun.

Colin Bennett, the county captain from Ross-on-Wye. retained the men's title for the 10th year which is a great achievement with Charles Crisp the runner up.

Ben Marks and Richard Tuck from Malvern were semi-finalists.

Frances Eckersley from Malvern retained the ladies' title for the third year beating Katie Miles from Barnt Green in the final.

Jo Shepherd, the ladies captain and Vicky Moffett were the losing semi-finalists.
