SEVERN Stars have signed Australian ace Ashleigh Brazill as an All-Star player for the British Fast5 All-Stars Championship next month.

Brazill plays for Collingwood Magpies in the Australian Suncorp Super Netball League.

“I am very excited to be heading over to England and thank you so much to the Stars for this opportunity,” said the 5ft 7in 28-year-old who plays at wing defence and centre.

"I can’t wait to put on the Severn Stars uniform. I love the Fast5 game.”

Brazill has been with Magpies since 2017 and recently confirmed her place in that squad for next season.

From New South Wales, Brazill made her debut in the ANZ Championship for the New South Wales Swifts in 2010, moving two years later to play for West Coast Fever for five seasons.

She made her Australian Diamonds debut in 2015 and has played in the Australian Fast5 World Series team.

Stars will compete at the British Fast5 All-Stars Championship at the Copper Box Arena, London, on October 13.

The championship sees eight five-player sides competing in a double elimination group stage for a semi-final spot with the winners taking home £25,000.

Innovations include a double-point power play, five-point line and 12-minute matches and teams can include two global All-Star players in their squad.

Stars head coach Sam Bird said: “We are delighted to have Ash join us for the Fast5.

“She is a world-class mid-court player and widely respected as a true professional of the game.

"She is renowned for being a ball winner and made history this year in being the first player to play professional netball and then to play for Australian football team Collingwood AFLW in the netball off-season.”
