DAVID Hunt won his first seniors medal at Bransford Golf Club after shooting September’s lowest gross score.

Hunt scored 79 gross 10 handicap 69 nett, David Wild 83-13=70, Mark Heason 85-13=72, Neil Holbrow 86-13=73, Graham Wilks 92-18=74 and Chris Cale 93-18=75.

In Division Two, Harry Godwin had 95-21=74, Martin Linley 97-21=76, Geoff Aston 99-20=79, Alan Wallcroft 103-24=79, David Lindsay 100-21=79 and Andrew Jarvis 104-24=80.

Brian Taylor had 102-25=77 in Division Three in front of Brian Corfield 104-26=78, Gerry McCurry 105-26=79, Colin Weeden 110-31=79, Brian Curnock 108-28=80 and Mike Hendry 110-29=81.

Bransford’s mixed am-am stableford championship produced a tight finish with a home quartet just one point ahead.

Last year’s club captain Pete Sheppard, Jenny Bennett and Andy and Lesley Lammas got 83 points to edge out R Day (The Welcombe), M Houghton (Ladbrooke Park) and S Barry and D Cooper (both Great Barr) on 82.

Third on countback went to Bransford’s Paul and Barbara Ramsden along with Dave Randle and Sally McPherson on 80 from P and K Clement (Machynys) and M and F Price (Bryn Meadows).

Barbara Ramsden won the lady members’ nearest-the-pin prize on the 11th.

Bransford seniors kept their unbeaten summer home run going as they completed the double over visiting Puckrup Hall with a 5-1 success.

Andy Falconer (25) and Chris Cale (18) won 5&4, Jarvis (24) and Gordon White (26) 4&3, Mike Davidge (16) and Roger Steade (29) 3&2, Ferey Ghani (15) and Godwin (21) 5&4 and John Phillips (21) and Wallcroft (24) 4&2.

Roger Clark (24) and Mark Weston (24) lost 4&2.

A club Texas scramble was won by Marcus Moss’ team with 61.9 while Stuart Crump’s had 63.5 and Wayne Harris’ 65.1.

Meanwhile, Alexander Park seniors played an aggregate pairs competition.

Julian Smith and Brian Goode won with 75 points from Ray Ingram and Terry Thomas on 74, Roy Caffull and Clive Neild on 71 and Alan Shakesheff and Bill McGrath on 69.
