MALVERN Town under 18s secured silverware at the St John’s Colts tournament.

They beat Worcester hosts St John's 3-2 in the under 21 section's final.

Manager Stewart Watkins said: “I was very pleased with the shape of my team.

“We were forced to go with a back three due to injury and players being away on holiday but the lads adapted extremely well.

“We moved the ball to feet across the pitch very well on what was a good surface.

“I felt we were maybe wasteful with chances but overall I was happy with what I saw and it was nice to get pre-season under way with some silverware.

“The lads can be pleased with the way in which they performed and conducted themselves, particularly Matty Butler, a local Malvern lad who stood out with a terrific display and a great goal.

“We will continue to build and work hard in training with our next game taking place at home on July 26 so come along and take a look at the future playing talent at the club.

“The philosophy that the club now has in giving youth a chance and having a clear pathway has really galvanised the lads and they are eager to show what they are capable of.”

The under 18s are looking for talented players to join them, particularly players who will be going into school years 12 and 13.
