HANLEY Swan guaranteed a Cheltenham League Division Two promotion play-off place with a 7-2 win at Tewkesbury Town Reserves.

Hanley started well and had an early chance with Jackson McMullen hitting the ball just over.

They then had an effort disallowed before Town broke and scored against the run of play.

However, Hanley swiftly equalised when Josh Hughes found Kevin Moore who smashed the ball into the net.

Hanley keeper Dan Rawlings tipped over the bar to keep the score level.

They went in search of goals with Adam Webb having a good chance, Kevin Moore hitting the post and Luke Duffett forcing a fine save.

Hanley were awarded a penalty for handball and Ash Bloore made no mistake from the spot.

At the other end sensible defending by Toby Mitten, Jamie Heason, Chris Bunn and Adam Webb kept Town out.

Just before half-time Bloore made a strong run holding off a defender before coolly finishing to put Hanley 3-1 up.

Early in the second half Hanley scored their fourth as a good run from Bloore sent Cathal McTernan away and he crossed for Moore to head home.

Town didn’t give up and pulled one back following a corner.

McTernan made some determined tackles before sending Bloore clear but he was denied by good defending.

Hanley scored two in two minutes, a McMullen corner found Duffett who put the ball in the net from close range and Duffett then scored his second by heading in from a Bloore corner.

Hanley were in control and wrapped up the scoring with Moore completing his hat-trick following good play between McMullen and Hughes.

Hanley’s final league game of the season is at home to FC Barometrics Reserves on Saturday (3pm).
