WORCESTERSHIRE wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Milton has been appointed the new captain of Cardiff MCCU for the 2018 campaign.
The 21-year-old, who signed his first professional contract with the County at the end of last season, is in his third and final year studying for a psychology degree.
Milton enjoyed success with the bat for Cardiff MCCU last summer, scoring centuries against Loughborough and Leeds-Bradford.
He was awarded the Graham Haines Award for 2017 for contributions on and off the field.
Milton also experienced a record-breaking season for Cardiff in the South Wales Premier Cricket League.
He became the first player to score 1,000 runs in a season in the competition and played a major role in Cardiff lifting the title.
Milton is to play this summer in the league for Port Talbot with Australian international Shaun Marsh.
He produced impressive displays for Worcestershire seconds last summer including 91 against Yorkshire.
