UPTON'S losing streak continued with a 42-12 defeat at third-placed Old Leamingtonians in Midlands Three West (South).

The visitors were buoyed by the returning Jake Lee, Matt Dunwell, Rich Clive, Dave Humphreys and Will Cullwick but the loss of skipper Max Macfarlane and James Page after 10 minutes ruined their chances.

Old Leams took the lead with a penalty but from the restart Rob Heeley and Macfarlane won the restart between them and the ball was moved wide.

George Ainge looked certain to score but was tackled just short and Clive used his frame to barrel over before Heeley converted to make it 7-3.

Despite this good start, third-from-bottom Upton’s game fell apart.

First skipper Macfarlane left the pitch with a head injury and then scrum-half Page soon followed with an ankle problem.

The changes disrupted Upton's game and Old Leams took full advantage with four tries before half-time.

The Worcestershire side, who have lost the last eight league games since beating Rugby St Andrews 17-12 on November 25, tried to rally and looked to secure bonus points.

Despite playing with the wind in the second half, which did stem the flow for a while, Upton could not seem to string any meaningful possession together.

Old Leams managed to score two late tries despite Freddie Barrell crossing for an Upton consolation.

Despite an early try and penalty from Bobby Ralph and a second-half try from Alex Parker, second-from-bottom Bromyard went down 25-17 at ninth-placed Manor Park.
