BARNARDS Green A and Avoncroft made winning starts in Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League Worcester Division One.

Avoncroft (144-3) beat Worcester Nomads B (74-4) by 70 runs.

Croft reached 48 off four overs before Josh Cound (24) was run out.

Tom Murray (35 not out), Dan Elliott (12), Adam Rodway (30no) and Paul Athey (27no) took the total past 100 with three overs left and then on to 144.

Nomads took 14 from the first over but Derek Austin was run out in the second.

Guy Davies (28) hit the ball well but Nomads were only 50-2 at halfway and they fell well short.

Droitwich (55 all out) lost to Barnards Green A (59-1) with more than six overs left.

Only Max Young (33) seemed switched on for Spa as four were bowled and the top scorer caught behind.

Jack Mackintosh starred with 4-13 in two overs.

Green cantered home with Oli Swift run out for 18 and Ryan Tongue retiring in the fifth over on 26.

In Division Two, Martley (143-5) beat West Malvern (123 all out) by 20 runs.

Ian Flower and Pat Bibby took a few balls to hone their aim before the latter drilled the back wall, retiring before the fourth over was complete.

Flower (23) was run out in the sixth over while Bibby (36) and James Ganderton (43no) accelerated the run-rate.

West began their reply positively despite losing a wicket to a run out in the first over.

Only Glen Collins (26) reached retirement as Kevin Gilbert (20), Pete O’Connell (14) and Ben Tanner (21) fell.

Keeping up 10 an over just was not enough on this occasion.    Old Vigornians (111-5) beat Rushwick (94-2) by 17 runs.

An innings of fits and starts eventually got OVs to a respectable total mainly thanks to Osman Fiaz's unbeaten 57 with support from Ahsan Fiaz (20).

Rushwick’s reply after losing a wicket in the first over progressed too slowly with Chris Davies and Richard Bull both retiring but not until the ninth and 12th overs respectively.

They ended short with wickets in hand.
