25th anniversary for Sevale

MALVERN cycling club VC Sevale celebrate their 25th anniversary this year and they are organising some events for past, present and hopefully future members to take part in.

The club was formed during a meeting of local cyclists at the Malvern Youth Hostel, and although the hostel is no more the club is still going strong and is looking forward to a bright future with the resurgence in the popularity of the sport.

Cycling has become so popular now that millions turned out recently in London when the Tour de France spent a couple of days in the south east of the country.

Past members in particular are being asked to get in touch with the club to take part in and make the silver anniversary celebrations special.

There is to be an open 10 mile time-trial on Saturday, September 22, at Severn Stoke in which national riders will take part.

This will be followed in the evening by a club reunion at a local pub.

All past and present members and their families are invited to come along and share memories and maybe some memorabilia and to check out the technical innovations on bikes over the last 25 years.

The following day, Sunday, September 23, there will be a tourist trial that is open for all cyclists who fancy a ride round the local lanes and stretch their minds as well as their legs and win prizes. Past members are being encouraged to dust off their bikes and join in the fun. Routes will be available for both families and the more regular rider.
