A ROOT and branch review of Malvern Rugby Club is under way as bosses bid to look at ways to improve on and off the pitch at Spring Lane.

The review, titled ‘Project 2020’, has been outlined by the club’s executive committee and will be overseen by chairman John Holden.

A club statement said: “In broad terms all areas of business will be examined to see what improvements can be made and at what cost.”

Director of rugby Rob Cook will focus on what the Midlands Two West (South) outfit can do to lure more players and how they can ensure they play at the highest level.

Chair of youth rugby Neil Palmer will look at how to attract further junior members and create an infrastructure to support coaches and volunteers.

Club secretary Kevin Purcell will lead on matters off the pitch.

This includes ensuring Malvern are aligned to RFU policies and procedures, health and safety, playing and training facilities and club house use.

The club statement added: “All of the committee will be involved in their area of expertise and the review will seek to listen to the views and thoughts of any member or member of staff who wants to express them.”
