MALVERN Town finished their preparations for the new season on a high as they recorded back-to-back victories.

Les Jones’ men edged Welsh side Cwmbran Celtic 2-1 at the HDanywhere Community Stadium last Saturday thanks to goals from Matt Turner and Sean Smith.

They then followed that up on Tuesday night with a 3-2 victory at Pershore Town.

A Dane Aldington double cancelled out strikes from Kyonn Evans and Josh Weatherby before the latter grabbed the winner against the Midland League Division One outfit.

The victory wrapped up their pre-season schedule which also included a 2-1 win over Droitwich Spa.

However, Town did lose 2-0 to National League South side Gloucester City, 4-3 to Coventry Sphinx and 3-0 to Westfields at home.

Manager Jones, who has added several new faces to his squad ahead of the upcoming season, said: “Pre-season has gone well as we have won all the games against teams we felt we should beat.

“We lost to Gloucester City who are four leagues higher and Westfields, but we were close in both of those games, so all is looking well and we are in good spirits.”

Town travel to Wolverhampton Casuals in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup tomorrow (3pm) before kicking off their West Midlands League Premier Division campaign with a visit to Bilston Town Community on Wednesday (7.45pm).
