BROMYARD’s winless start to Worcestershire League Division Two continued as they had to settle for a losing draw to Wormelow at Flaggoners Green.

It could have been worse for the hosts as they found themselves at 32-3 in response to Wormelow’s 189-6 from 30 overs.

But David Taylor stepped up to the plate, firing 68 runs off 59 balls, to give Bromyard hope only to finish 11 runs short.

After winning the toss and choosing to field, Tom Bussey caught Matt Deem (17) off the bowling of Greg Leighton.

But Josh Worsley soon settled and with support from Robbie Stonadge (18) the visitors moved beyond three figures.

Worsley hit five fours and six sixes on his way to 69 before being trapped LBW by Kieran Fowler.

But contributions from Elliott Williams (37) and Jasper Linley-Adams (20) saw Wormelow post a decent total. The away side looked firmly in control as Fowler fell for one and Rob Willis and George Leighton both could only make 10.

But Greg Leighton (25) showed some resilience and Taylor began to find the boundary.

Taylor’s innings featured seven fours and four sixes while Edd Oliver scored 32 off 24 balls.

But Wormelow held on for a winning draw.
