A STRONG second-half showing saw Malvern Town run out 4-0 winners against AFC Bridgnorth in the West Midlands League Premier Division.

Dave Reynolds opened the scoring with a 14th minute penalty before Les Jones’ men upped the ante after the interval.

Louis Loader and Matthew Turner netted before Reynolds scored his second late on to wrap up a comfortable victory at the HDanywhere Community Stadium.

Bridgnorth almost went ahead inside the opening four minutes as they pounced on a defensive mistake, but Adam Sauntson cleared off the line.

Malvern got the breakthrough when Lewis Platt was brought down in the box and Reynolds dispatched the resultant spot-kick.

Loader went close moments later with a volley before a Bryan Craven corner grazed the crossbar.

Keeper Charlie Weaver was forced into action on 36 minutes as he pulled off a wonderful save to deny Karl Griffiths who unleashed a powerful shot.

Loader sent another volley wide before hitting the net at the start of the second period. After working the ball down the left, Craven crossed for Loader who applied the finish.

In response, Bridgnorth created a couple of chances as Liam Bood sent his effort over before Weaver saved a low shot from Joe Mitchell.

But after Platt was thwarted by Stephen Groome, Malvern made it 3-0 on 71 minutes.

A fine long ball across the pitch from Paul Edwards found Turner who ran into the box and fired home.

With nine minutes left, Turner’s strike was parried by Groome, but the ball fell to Reynolds who netted the rebound.

Malvern host Wellington in the league tonight (7.45pm).
