MALVERN Triathlon Club members headed to the Tewkesbury aquathlon and Hereford duathlon.

The fourth event concluded Tewkesbury Triathlon Club's aquathlon series with 49 competitors.

Malvern's Tom Hall was placed 10th in 27 minutes 58 seconds and David Dutton 22nd in 31:15.

Dutton, who had completed the entire series, was delighted with his steady improvement by shaving one minute 11 seconds off his time.

On the same day in glorious sunshine nine Malvern members competed in the popular duathlon hosted by Hereford Triathlon Club.

They entered the standard event of a 4.6-mile run along roads, pavements and field paths, a 17-mile bike ride on undulating roads and a 2.2-mile run.

With 127 competitors starting 122 finished.

Four Malvern competitors improved on the 2016 times thanks to their dedication to training and coaches.

Jim Hancox was first club member home for the first time in one hour 46 minutes nine seconds.

Stephen Dick clocked 1.47.07, Andy Rickard 1.48.28, John Bryan 1.50.36, Roy Hart 1.52.39 and Scott Hawkins 1.55.46.

Both Hart and Hawkins improved their race time by five minutes compared to 2016.

Stephen Clarke pipped Jayne Ackroyd, despite her beating her 2016 time by six minutes, to the finish post by one second in a friendly battle over the last mile in 1.56.57.

Wesley Ogden finished in 2.03.08 for Malvern.

Hancox also competed in the Vale of Glamorgan Coastal Ultra run over an 18.5-mile course, doing 3.28.08 for 22nd out of 131 competitors.
