PAULINE Belsham destroyed the field when she carded 66 nett to win the ladies’ April medal at The Worcestershire in Malvern Wells.

Relishing the spring weather she included two birdies and seven pars in her score, coming home eight shots ahead of her nearest rivals.

Belsham reduced her playing handicap from 16 to 13.

Fellow Division One players June Jones and Sue Boardman led the following pack with 74 and Jones took second place on countback.

Division Two went to Sandra Schofield with 77 one ahead of Ruth Scott and Jane Quick on 78.

The ladies also played an 18-hole better-ball stableford and a nine-hole competition.

The former was won by Di Wilde and Jenny Jones with 42 points from Doreen Hunt and Liz Pool on 40 and Mary Horrobin and Anne Wilson on 39.

The latter went to Liz Bird on 14 points ahead of Pauline Taylor and Davina Taylor.

Meanwhile, W A J Poulton (handicap 12) was victorious in the men’s midweek stableford recording 40 points.

Tom Howells (2) was second in Division One with 38 ahead of Andrew Perkins (10) on 35.

Tony Pullen (17) eased out Mike Sterry (16) to take Division Two with both on 39 ahead of Ronald Barker (17) on 36.

The same situation applied to Division Three players Steve Hill (20), Tom Wood (20) and John Goodwin (18) who returned with 39, 39 and 36 respectively.
