LEDBURY Rugby Club staged their annual sportsman's dinner with legendary Welsh winger JJ Williams MBE as guest speaker.
With Williams arriving early enough to have an inspirational word with the first XV players about to undertake a training session the assembled members and guests were treated to a four-course dinner.
They were then regaled with entertaining reminiscences from the 69-year-old former player of a bygone era of both club and international rugby in the pre-professional days.
Williams was complimentary of the facilities at the Pavilion Rooms and the club as well as being full of encouragement for both the senior and junior sections.
A prize auction and raffle raised significant funds in support of the club as well as enabling a sizeable donation to the charity WREX founded by Williams to lend support, both financial and medical, to retired Welsh rugby players.
