ROB Purdie has clocked up over 400 appearances for Hereford during the past 15 years.

Here, he picks his all-star XI from players he has played alongside, as well as his favourite Hereford games.

Goalkeeper: Wayne Brown.

Purdie: "He was a great lad and kept us in so many games."

Right-back: Ryan Green.

Purdie: "In his prime, he was one of the best defenders around. He keeps himself to himself, but it's nice to have someone at the club now who I was with at Hereford United."

Centre-back: Tony James.

Purdie: "I don't think I ever saw him have a bad game in four years and was underrated."

Centre-back: Tamika Mkandawire

Purdie: "He was captain of the club and a real nice lad, who was honest, hard working and a desire to do well, which has been shown in his success since.|"

Left-back: James Cambers.

Purdie: "He was only on loan to us, but I love playing with footballers and he was one of the best I have seen."

Centre-midfield: Nicky Featherstone.

Purdie: "He was so calm on the ball and is now captain of Hartlepool. He was probably underrated at Hereford."

Centre-midfield: Rob Purdie.

Purdie: "I've got to put myself in the team. I was a striker when I was 17, but came to Hereford and I was at my best in central midfield.

Right-wing: Andy Williams.

Purdie: "He always worked hard and one of the fittest players I've played with. A real nice lad as well."

Left-midfield: Paul Parry.

Purdie: "He could produce a great ball and could score goals, particularly when he was at Hereford."

Attacking midfielder: Ben Smith.

Purdie: "He had a great footballing brain."

Striker: Steve Guinan.

Purdie: "He had everything – was a great header of the ball, could be unselfish and lay the ball off or score goals himself."
