THE seniors stableford winter league at Bransford Golf Club is taking shape after two of the six rounds.

Scoring was in keeping with a number of other club competitions at this time of year when ice, frost and misty conditions make accuracy paramount.

Division One was won by Harry Godwin on count-back with 35 points from David Ryall with Roy Burston third on 33.

Charlie Hawkridge was to the fore in Division Two on 38 followed by Rob Wetton on 36 and Andrew Jarvis on 33, just pipping Alan Wallcroft on count-back.

Count-back also decided Division Three with Dick Bettsworth claiming first on 35 from Martin Saunders, while John Hadley had 32.

The leader in Division One is Graham Wilks on 66, just one point ahead of Burston, followed by June Atkinson on 62 and Gerry Rebbeck on 60.

Ryall sets the pace in Division Two on 74 with Wetton four behind and Roy Williams third on 68.

John Knowles has 65 and Hawkridge 64.

Well out in front in Division Three is Saunders with 74, while Cynthia Holmes has 65, John Hadley 64, Allen Rowberry 62 and Bettsworth 60.

The monthly stableford in near-freezing conditions produced a win for an early starter.

Bob McGrath notched up 34 points to see off Roy Williams on 32 and Rebbeck on 31, which was also the same total for Barry Benge.

Division Two went to John Phillips on count-back after he and Mike Weaver both scored 36, while Wallcroft was third on 32.

Saunders and Bettsworth were among the leading lights in Division Three with the former just edging top spot 33 to 32, while Mike Kenway was third on 31.

The main section’s December stableford produced a win for Stuart Crump in Division One with 37, three ahead of Tom Agnew.

Gordon Jack was third on 33 followed by Ollie Walker, Ian Bowman and Andy Kennedy on the same total.

Count-back decided Division Two with Mervyn Miles pipping Neil Pask after both returned 38.

Lyndon Gardner claimed third on 37 from Abi Nixon on the same score with Steve Bourne and Sean Jones both on 35.
