JASON Allies regained the title of club champion at The Worcestershire in Malvern Wells after last winning it in 2014.

The 31-year-old put together two consistent rounds over consecutive days.

In lifting the AM Chance Cup, Allies recorded gross 72 on both 18 holes, five strokes clear of runner-up Tom Howells, who recovered from a 78 to post 71.

The duo filled the same places in the 36-hole handicap competition for the Schweppes Cup with three-handicapper Allies triumphing with 138 nett.

Howells (handicap 2) recorded 145 ahead of club captain Mark Read (5) on 148.

Players from Divisions Two and Three fought it out over 18 holes for the Deerhurst Cup.

Division Two’s Mike Bothma (13) secured the silverware on count-back from Division Three’s Jon Lane (18) with both carding nett 70.

Rob Merley (17) was second in Division Two on 72 with Dave Turner (13) third on 76.

Andy Wood (18) followed Lane home in Division Three with 73, ahead of Tony Hunabun (21) on 75.

The ladies’ Silver Division Cup was won by Chris Urry with 36 stableford points, one ahead of Jane Tromans.

June Jones headed those on 32 points to take third.

An 18-hole stableford for Bronze and Copper Divisions was won by Jennifer Musson on 34 points followed by Joan Haworth on 32 and Joan Herbert on 31.

Norma Pottinger and Betty Mitchell tied at the top with 14 points in the nine-hole stableford with Pauline Taylor third on 13 and Esme Davy fourth on 12.

The men’s Ledbury Cup Foursomes final saw Read and Phil Birch win 3&1 against Colin Jones and Jim Wilde, who were in receipt of eight strokes.

Losing semi-finalists were John Poulton and Barry Tuck and Neil Bogart and Jim Pawson.

The popular seniors’ mixed open, a greensomes stableford, saw The Worcestershire’s Gary Lynes (11) and his wife Evelyn (28) from Bransford lead a field of 90 with 44 points.

Barry Caswell (9) and Jill Piner (14), from the home club, were runners-up on 42.

Jim and Di Wilde took third on 37 ahead of Redditch’s J and R Daws on 36.

The last of the seniors’ four tankard competitions saw 36 take part.

Mike Smith won with 39 stableford points and Paul Butler eased John Wright out of second slot on count-back with both on 37.

The north beat the south by one match as the ladies played their annual Linda Mackie Trophy match.
