THE Worcestershire’s Seniors’ AmAm drew contestants from far and wide.

The open featured a hole-in-one from Shropshire’s Patshull Park team, 36 teams representing 27 clubs and players from Deeside, Scotland.

The speed of the greens provided a huge challenge with only 13 twos recorded by 136 players.

The runaway winners came from the hosts and the second prize went to a mixed team led by Simon Clayson.

Terry Smith, Gary Lynes, Mike Bothma and Mike Day won with 95 points.

Clayson (The Worcs), K Ashbridge, M Slatter (both Tewkesbury Park) and B Marshall (Cotswold Hills) were next on 90.

P Parkes, D Macklin, D Fisher and M Lester (Halesowen) finished third on 89.

R Yewer, P Ceillum, S Tudor and G Rowe (Robin Hood) managed fourth position with a score of 87.

M Bryce, B Stykes, M Guard and T Hatt (Kidderminster) took the fifth and final prize, also on 87.

The Jack Campbell Cup was contested by 40 The Worcestershire ladies and winner Jenny Nions returned 42 stableford points for six under-par.

Jackie Marks followed on 41 with Mary Horrobin third on 39 and Pam Emery-Reynolds fourth with 38.

Twelve competitors entered the nine-hole stableford and Marie Willis won with 18 points, one ahead of Jennifer Bunyan and Pauline Taylor.

Andy McCabe and Brian Kentallen took the men’s Alan Courtney Cup greensomes with 41 stableford points ahead of Mike Holt and Allaster Renton on 37.

The same winning score and margin were achieved by Mike Baird in the third of four seniors’ Tankard competitions.

His 41 stableford points were also well ahead of Paul Thompson’s 37 with Peter Taylor third on 36 after count-back came into play.

In inter-club matches, The Worcestershire mixed team recorded a 7-5 victory at home to Cotswold Hills.

The Men’s B team held The Herefordshire to a 3-3 draw at Wormsley.

The seniors suffered a 4-2 defeat at Broadway.

Ladies’ captain Jill Mico took a group of 34 from The Worcestershire to Maxstoke Park, Warwickshire, for her away day.

Playing a three-ball alliance, the winners were Jane Tromans, Jill Brierly and Elizabeth Rooney with 80 stableford points.
