WORCESTERSHIRE’S Saffron Cresswell has been crowned a British pony eventing champion.
The Hanley Castle High School 15-year-old won the Charles Owen British Pony Eventing Championships at Brand Hall, Shropshire.
Cresswell led the field from the beginning of the competition with a dressage score of 36.5 penalties.
Along with her 14.1-hands pony Cuffesgrange Little Ric, they were the only combination to complete the testing cross-country course within the optimum time.
It gave them a 27.9 penalty lead going into the final round of show jumping.
Cresswell, of Welland, and Ric have enjoyed a superb season, winning three out of four pony trials alongside a second place.
They were members of the European pony gold medal-winning team in Sweden in 2015 and hope to be selected to represent GB again in Denmark this year.
