WORCESTER Nomads skipper Ben Schiffmann hailed his side after they thrashed rivals Droitwich by 127 runs in Worcestershire League Division One.

Innocent Kaia struck 51 and then snapped up 4-8 as table-topping Nomads roared to a fourth successive victory.

Schiffmann said: “It’s great to be top of the league and we have put in four excellent performances so far. But we are aware there are still good teams to play. Hopefully, we can keep up the momentum.”

Sam Roberts  made 51 and a brisk 58 from Richard Henry lifted Nomads to 256-8, with visiting skipper Martyn Davies taking 3-79.

Droitwich crumbled to 129 all out with Kaia, Henry (2-34) and James Ganderton (2-41) among the wickets.

Schiffmann said: “I knew if I won the toss I would bat first to give us the best opportunity to get 24 points.

"Once again, our top three batsmen gave us a great base to get a big target for Droitwich to chase and were on course for 300-plus at one stage.

"Some good bowling saw us fall short of that but I always felt 260 would be difficult to chase down with our bowling attack."

He added: Droitwich have some dangerous hitters in their team but we bowled well as a unit and kept picking up wickets regularly. Innocent Kaia and James Ganderton bowled particularly well."
