MALVERN College hockey ace Alex Worrallo has been selected for the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme and National Age Group Squad (NAGS) Academy.

The programmes are run for selected Year 12 hockey players and are led by the performance department at England Hockey.

Mark Moss, head hockey coach at the college, said: “I am delighted Alex’s hard work is paying off. She thoroughly deserves these opportunities.

“I hope this will lead to an England under 18s selection as Alex has all the attributes to qualify.

“In addition, she is a fantastic role model for the girls at school here at the college.”

Worrallo plays her club hockey for National League side Stourport.

She captained their under 18s as they qualified for the national indoor finals.
