SHAKESPEARE Superteam signing Chris Senter made excellent use of fancied peg 44 on the brambles at Perdiswell to comfortably win the penultimate round of the WDUAA winter league.

Guesting for the Alans Tackle Series, Senter tamed the gale-force conditions better than the rest by posting a winning 10lb 5oz 4dr.

Starting at just three metres, the stillwater expert netted two chub early on before changing his worm and caster attack to across the canal for another four good fish.

Swan AC’s Sue Jaques came second from nearby peg 38, where she netted a trio of good chub for 6-6-6.

On the peg next to the victor came Paul Wilson (Barnards Green) with a few perch and two chub going 5-7-9.

He beat teammate Gary Rowberry’s squatt and pinkie-caught small fish net of 4-6-12 from peg 62.

The best weight from the Blackpole section was Paul Coley’s 4-3-14, while the Arboretum area went to Steve Ward with the same weight.

Top teams were Barnards Green and Alans Tackle with 15 points.

With one round to go, Green have taken over the lead on 76 points and long-time leaders Phoenix slipped to second on 79 with Alans Tackle third on 82. The final round is on Sunday, December 13.

Despite atrocious conditions that saw some poles broken, Droitwich Spa’s Rod Turner won his club’s contest at Porters Mill with a skimmer bream and perch catch on pinkie bait from the second pound going 11-11.

Dave Anderson was second with an all-small fish net from pound three of 7-8-5.

Veteran Tony Hamilton put 6-13-4 on the scales for third place and in fourth came former Worcester national man Mick Salcumbe with 6-7-8.

Section winners were Brian Godfrey, Will Priddy, Ken Legge and Mick Sparkes.

The fur and feather contest is at the same venue on Sunday with an 8.30am draw.
