VC SEVALE’S Jez Pile represented club and country in winning a silver medal at the UCI Masters Track World Championship.

He was riding at the National Cycling Centre, Manchester, in the individual time trial and pursuit, the team pursuit and the scratch race.

Pile narrowly missed an individual medal, finishing fourth in the 750-metre time trial with a personal best of 51.4 seconds.

In the individual pursuit, another personal best was achieved, as he completed the 3km distance in a time of three minutes 34.902 seconds for ninth in the competition.

However, the key success was when he teamed with Jason Streather, Andy Stuart and Rob West in the team pursuit riding for Great Britain.

The qualifying heat saw the team go second fastest over the 3km in 3.25.373, pairing them against Argentina for a ride-off for silver or gold later that evening.

The finals saw a position change to strengthen the team, who managed to shave two seconds off their qualifying time with 3.23.707.

But it was not enough to overcome a strong finish from Argentina, who took the top spot with 3.21.563.

Pile said: “This was a great competition that I really enjoyed.

“This event has been a target for 2015 and I’m over the moon to PB in the TT and pursuit.

“The team pursuit was a superb experience and I am hoping that we will get together next year to have another crack at a world championship title.”
