VETERAN Malcolm Fare secured double gold medal joy at the Age Group Fencing Championships in Bletchley.
The 73-year-old from Hanley Swan won the 70-plus foil and epee competitions in the annual event, which divides fencers into decades from 40 up to Fare’s category.
There were seven 70-plus foil competitors and nine epee fencers in action in Buckinghamshire with Fare facing all of them and going undefeated in both sections.
Fare’s result qualified him for the veterans’ world championships in Limoges, France, in October.
