A STRONG Malvern Anglers turn-out fished their fifth Spring Cup contest on Droitwich canal at Porters Mill.

Weather conditions were fair but a cool wind blowing along the canal seemed to put the fish off feeding in places as most anglers struggled and some failed to catch.

However, the youngest angler Dave Wilkes caught skimmer bream up to 2lb using pole-fished worm and maggot from a sheltered end peg to win with 10lb 9oz.

Some way behind in second, veteran Dave Harris included a bream and a rudd of over 2lb in his weight of 3-9.

Further up the canal, Chris Loveridge found perch under trees on the far bank to finish third with 2-6.

He just beat Nigel Bayliss (1-10) on the next peg with a similar catch of perch.

Ian Goddard and Billy Hartland both reeled in 0-9.
