THE Plains Rally saw nearly 50 crews battling for points in the Pirelli MSA Welsh Forest Rally Championship.
Championship leader Bob Ceen, from Malvern, and Birmingham co-driver Andy Bull slid their Subaru off the road and into retirement on stage two.
After six challenging forest stages, Ruthin driver Hugh Hunter claimed maximum points for the second time this season.
Ceen slipped to third in the standings. The next round is the Severn Valley Stages in Builth Wells on May 30.
