IN-FORM Ledbury Rugby Club were stunned by a winning converted try from Midlands Three West (South) leaders Dunlop in the final 30 seconds.

The Ross Road side wanted an eighth consecutive win to move into the top four but the visitors triumphed 27-26 and left Ledbury with just two points.

Ledbury started playing uphill and Dunlop stuck to their tactics from the November meeting, which they edged 33-30.

The visitors scored the first try after 15 minutes but the hosts then camped inside their opponents’ 22 for 10 minutes. Dunlop survived and extended their lead by executing an overlap out wide for a second try.

Ledbury made it 12-5 by winning the ball in their own 22 and Rob Anscomb found centre Chris Stokes, who ran 80 metres down the wing for a try.

They had the wind and slope advantage in the second period but shipped an early penalty.

The hosts responded from inside their own 22 as Matt Hallett broke and passed for Harry Porter to bag a fine converted try.

Dunlop extended their lead to 20-12 but Ledbury produced another length-of-the-field try with centre George Bennion going over after good work from full-back Ali Park and Hallett.

Ledbury went ahead for the first time as a fine move involving Porter was finished off by Jamie Rayfield and Bennion added a third conversion.

Dunlop were held off by fine defending but scored not long after a controversial scrum was awarded against Ledbury.

Steve Humphreys shone at the line-out for Ledbury, who visit Harbury tomorrow.
